From snacks to stain fighters, I’m breaking down our must-have items for road trips with the family. Spoiler alert: you won’t want to skip the Oxiclean™ On the Go™ Stain Remover Pen.
Thank you, Oxiclean, for sponsoring this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When she was little my middle child called our mini van’s glove compartment the “Diaper Box.” The cute error actually makes totally sense. There are no gloves in my glove compartment. Instead, it’s where I used to store the spare diaper and wipes in case of emergencies.
Being a parent means being prepared for the what-if’s.
With our more elaborate travel plans for 2020 taking a bit of a back seat, we’ve been focusing on day trips to gorgeous nature spots in California (the good news is there are so many!). Often they are spur of the moment, when a day presents itself with no to-do list or a kid expresses interest.
Thankfully, this mama is road trip ready at a moment’s notice. Like when my sister called to say the weather at Joshua Tree National Park was perfect for exploring!
I have my car packed with the essentials in my “Diaper Box.” Want to prep your car for fun at a moment’s notice? Today I’m sharing the essential items so you’ll be Road Trip Ready too!
Road Trip Ready Essentials
Snacks — Snacks are essential for any road trip. However, if you’re looking for things to have on hand in case of emergency, I’d make sure you’re packed items that won’t melt or turn into goo.
Pro Tip: Make your road trip snacks something special to perk up grumpy car companions.
First Aid Kit — When I say “essential,” I one zillion percent mean that a First Aid Kit is essential. Bandages are very important, but I would also recommend purchasing or creating a kit that has things like antiseptic ointment, gloves, gauze, and tweezers.
The tweezers saved us when our temporarily brave adventurer fell into a pocket of cacti. She found herself with two palms full of needles!
Games — I grew up with classics like the License Plate Game which maintain their place as awesome road trip entertainment. However, you can turn up the fun with products like Road Trip Bingo (even the tweens loved it).
Cash — I’ve been so grateful to have a few dollars and some quarters stashed away more than once. Pesky parking meters and cash-only ice cream stores always seem to find me unprepared.
Wardrobe Refreshes — With my kids getting older, it’s been a while since I had to worry about a change of clothes for them when we left the house. However, adventure happens..and so do messes!
That’s why I’ve added something bew to my Road Trip Kit: the Oxiclean On the Go Pen Stain Remover.
Oxiclean™ On the Go™ Stain Remover Pen
When you’re hitting the road, make sure you’re ready for the little stains and spills that happen along the way with the Oxiclean™ On the Go™ Stain Remover Pen.
Why You Need Oxiclean™ In Your Road Trip Essential Kit:
- Instant Remove stains in two simple steps!
- Effective Out-cleans other stain pens and contains 2x more
- Convenient It’s easy to drop in your purse, bag, or throw in your glove compartment
It’s the perfect grab and go peace-of-mind you’ll need when on the go. It’s easy to use. Just remove any excess liquid and apply the Oxiclean™ with the special Stain Fighter Scrubber tip. It’s a great solution for coffee, make-up, lipstick, chocolate, spaghetti, and soy sauce. Want to test it on your spill? Try it on an inconspicuous area first.
What You Need to Know About Oxiclean™ On the Go™ Stain Remover Pen:
Fights the coffee stains from refueling on your trip, the chocolate syrup from the ice cream cone your kid spills after lunch, and the lipstick on your mask! If you’ve ever used anything from the Oxiclean™ line, you know it works! The Stain Remover Pen is no different. Tough stain fighting and scrubbing pen top make it a great little tool to have in your toolkit.
While it’s perfect for your road trip wardrobe, you will want to test it out on an area that can’t be seen first. I’d skip the sensitive fabrics you don’t throw in the wash, too.
There’s no bleach involved–just water, biodegradable cleaning agents, and hydrogen peroxide.
Although our travel plans this year may look a little different, our road trip essentials stay the same.
