Pop Over for Bubblefest at Discovery Science Cube OC

Don’t miss spring’s most pop-ular event, the Discovery Cube OC’s Bubblefest.

I received complimentary admission to facilitate this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

My preschooler and I arrived at the Discovery Cube OC for a night filled with bubble science that I knew she would just adore. Although the Bubblefest tradition has been strong in Orange County for years, it was our first visit. I’m kicking myself for all of the years of bubbles we missed out on!

Discovery Cube OC’s Bubblefest

My preschooler and I arrived for a media reception prior to the fun. We snacked on a selection from the popcorn bar, and flew over Orange County in a helicopter simulation. She explored shopping in the market, making healthy food choices from the interactive market.

Soon it was time to take our seats for the Mega Bubblefest Laser Show. The Laser Show, featuring bubble stars Deni and Melody Yang, is a MUST when visiting the Bubblefest.

Mega Bubblefest Laser Show

Children were guided to sit on the floor in front in a bubble zone. I opted to sit with my little one of my floor, but there’s plenty of seating available in the theater. The show lasted for less than an hour, which parents of young children can attest to being a long time. However, my little one was engaged and thrilled throughout the entire time!

TIP: Children need to remain seated throughout the show. If your little one may have difficulty remaining seated, you may consider sitting on the floor as well.

A mixture of entertainment, art, and science, the bubble show captivates guests of all ages with multiple opportunities for guest participation. Smoke-filled bubbles, honeycomb bubbles, bubbles large enough to surround audience members–Deni and Melody showed how many possibilities soap and water can provide.

Being seated on the floor meant we were completely engulfed in bubbles. The glee-filled squeals throughout the show were proof that each display was as well-received as the last. In addition to the bubbles, lasers bring added delight to the presentation.

Bubble Zone

Included with the cost of Bubblefest is access to the Bubble Zone. The indoor hands-on exhibit area has opportunities for little scientists of all ages.

Some highlights include:

  • Bubble Art Studio — Use tissue paper and spray bottles to make unique art
  • Bubble Wall
  • Play area for babies & toddlers
  • Inflatable obstacle course
  • Water Spheres

The Water Spheres were a huge hit! I even saw some adults taking their turn at the inflatable hamster balls.

Tip: Get in line early or leave one adult in line since the experience is very popular.

Bubble Courtyard

Would you believe we never even made it to the Bubble Courtyard? The outdoor bubble exploration area allows for some serious hands-on fun. We were so pumped with floating in Water Spheres, that we didn’t make it outdoors.

However, after seeing the pros with their own bubble skills, little ones are going to love the squeaky clean fun.

Due to the popularity of this annual event, it’s recommended to purchase tickets in advance.

You can get tickets and more information about the bubble science at Discovery Cube Orange County.
