There are lots of quotes by Walt Disney seared into my heart. One of my favorites that I have used in my home is part of the opening speech for Disneyland, “To all who come to this happy place, welcome!” I think it sets the mood for joy and festivity, two things I’m hoping for whenever we have guests.
Another favorite reminds me that huge accomplishments can come from the most meager of things.
“I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.” – Walt Disney
What is it about the little mouse?
Is he the every man character…approachable and flawed, yet still charming?
Is it his friendly demeanor?
Maybe it’s his position as the spokesmouse for one of the world’s most trusted brands. Whatever the reason, I’m on board for all things M-I-C-K-E-Y!
If you adore Mickey Mouse as much as I do, these decorated cookies are just the thing. They are perfect for a Mickey Mouse birthday party. You can make them in advance and pack them for your next Disney trip as a special treat.
Mickey Mouse Oreos
Ingredients
- 1 (15.35 ounce) package Double Stuf Oreo Chocolate Sandwich Cookies
- 1 (12 ounce) package red candy melts wafers
- 1 (12 ounce) package milk chocolate chips
- 1 (6 ounce) package Oreo Thin Bites
- White nonpareil sprinkles
Instructions
1. Line a baking sheet with waxed paper.
2. Melt milk chocolate chips in the microwave, stirring vigorously after in 30-second increments, until smooth.
3. Dip each cookie into melted chocolate. Remove cookie, tapping gently against the side of the bowl, allowing excess candy to return to the bowl. If air bubbles form, pop them with a toothpick. Place the cookie onto the waxed paper.
4. Immediately press two Oreo Thin Bites cookie onto each dipped cookie to be the ears. Allow to set completely before proceeding to the next step. To speed the process, cookies can be refrigerated or placed in the freezer in a single layer.
5. Melt red candy coating according to package directions. If the candy is too thick to pour, add 1 teaspoon coconut oil or vegetable shortening. Stir well. Do not add water. You can add up to 1 tablespoon of coconut oil per bag of candy wafers.
6. Place the dipped cookie on a fork or spoon and pour red candy coating over the bottom half of the cookie.
7. Using a toothpick and/or sterilized tweezers, apply two white nonpareil sprinkles as the buttons.
8. Allow cookie to set completely at room temperature or refrigerate for faster results. Store in an airtight container as room temperature.
Aren’t they just the cutest?!?
I’m not sure why things taste better when Mickey-shaped, but they absolutely do!

I absolutely love this! It is an easy to follow recipe for such a delicious treat. My niece’s birthday is coming up in June and I will share this idea with my cousin. I would even volunteer to help make these Mickey Mouse Oreos for my niece’s birthday party!
