I’m making a to-do list, and checking it twice. The holidays are just around the corner. It’s a busy time of year, and one where the true meaning of things gets lost. But I was introduced to the sweetest way to cross something off of my holiday to-do list and also do good for my community.

CHOC Kid’s Cards are designed by patients of CHOC Hospital in Orange County, with proceeds benefiting the hospital. I was able to follow artist Ivy along the production process of her card design at Envelopments.
Ivy, 4, was introduced by her mother who shared a little of the family’s journey and history with CHOC. At the 20 week pre-natal anatomy scan it was discovered that Ivy no outflow portion of her heart. She required open-heart surgery four days after being born. Her story sent tinges of sadness through me, as her congenital heart defect sounded identical to my sister’s. However, hers was not discovered until later in life. Technology and scientific research are identifying and remedying problems such these even before a baby is born, rather than when problems arise later in life.
Supporting CHOC’s efforts to give our kids the best start is making a difference. Even within my lifetime I’m seeing the positive results for Orange County families.
The talented Ivy and her friend Emilee worked hard to prepare their heart-themed card design for the 2018 season. Both girls, like my sister, have congenital heart defects so their sweet design is so fitting.
In addition to Ivy and Emilee’s design, we got to check out the 13 options available. Check out how cute they are HERE!
The little artists did an amazing! Their talents will help sell between 40,000-70,000 cards this year to help raise $42 million for the hospital. With a price tag of only $2.50 each, you’d image a lot of cards need to be sold to help make the intended impact.
Once the other attendees and I got to know Ms. Ivy, we got to follow along as her card was produced. Envelopments in Santa Ana has partnered with the CHOC Kid’s Card program to make high-quality unique cards perfect for the holidays and many other celebrations.
We got to check out the 200 paper stocks, the rainbow of envelopes, and the fun behind the scenes. Each of the CHOC Kid’s cards is $2.50 each and sold in packs of 20, with free shipping. When ordering you have 6 different envelope choices. A sweet standard message is included; however, you can swap it out for a more customized greeting instead. Envelopments will also add your return address and the addressee’s information for an additional charge.
Seeing the sweetness of the featured artist and hearing her story makes me even more grateful for the work CHOC does for families in Orange County and surrounding areas. However, the work is not done. By purchasing your holiday cards from CHOC Kid’s, you’ll making a difference in the lives of families like Ivy’s and my own.
The card program is presented by the LittlestAngelGuild.org . Their volunteer work supports the needs and mission of CHOC Hospital. The efforts, in combination with other contributors, helped to open the only mental health facility for children aged 3-17 in Orange County. More good things are on the horizon for CHOC, but they need our support.
Order your holiday cards HERE. By supporting the program, you can cross a holiday to-do off your list and make a big difference in the lives of OC kids.

I’m proud to say that I am a second generation Kids Card artist. My mom created two cards while she was a patient at CHOC. I was born with kidney issues, but I’ve been healthy since I was three. Today, I love running races with my mom.
Thank you for sharing your gift with us! The cards are all so lovely! I’m sure your mom must be so proud.
