Calling all adventurers! Explore the white water rapids of Calico at Knott’s Berry Farm on Calico River Rapids, opening May 17, 2019.
As an ambassador for Knott’s Berry Farm, I receive complimentary admission and experiences. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
The Knott’s popular water ride, Bigfoot Rapids, has been closed as the attraction received some exciting updates. The renovations include new animatronics, themed show scenes, story overlay, and water effects.
Bigfoot Rapids, now Calico River Rapids, extends the storyline of Knott’s historic Calico Ghost Town. Guests follow frontiersmen through uncharted territory. What’s around each twist and turn? Indigenous wildlife, treacherous roaring rapids, and dynamic water effects.
Check out this behind the scenes video!
The Calico River Rapids transports six guests at a time through the white rapids aboard a circular craft. Guests are guaranteed a wild ride through the waters of the unknown about the Calico River.
The May 19th release means that summer is going to be the coolest Season of Fun at Knott’s Berry Farm!
POV Video of Calico River Rapids
As part of the media event to kick-off the new ride, I was able to raft down the rapids with one of the citizens from Calico.
The updates to the ride are FANTASTIC! It’s a water ride, and I definitely got wet the first two times I rode.
TIP: In true Melanie fashion, I kept talking throughout the ride. Ummm if you do the same, prepare to drink some of the water.
Each time I rode, I was able to see new elements so I would definitely ride more than once. A lot of people have asked “How wet do you get on Calico River Rapids?”
The answer really varies. Because you are seated in rafts that have gone the course numerous times, the seats are wet. However, none of the times I rode caused me to be uncomfortably drenched.
You can check out this video of my husband’s first ride to gauge his response.
For the record, the water does not hurt so I’m not sure why he says “Owww!”
The ride itself features so many amazing new elements. One of my favorite changes is the ability to blast riders with riders by igniting “dynamite”. Look for the explosives across from Pony Express.
Be careful! You never know when you may end up getting splashed yourself!
The blast feature is free for guests to enjoy.
We had so much fun checking out the NEW Calico River Rapids at Knott’s! The culinary team at Knott’s delighted us with themed food and drinks. I adored seeing my favorite citizens of Calico back in the park. I can’t wait until Ghost Town Alive kicks off again for the summer!
Calico River Rapids isn’t the only fun planned this summer!
Knott’s Summer Nights
After keeping cool all day aboard the Calico River Rapids’ rafts, Knott’s Berry Farm is heating up the night. Join in Knott’s Summer Nights June 7-August 11th for nighttime festivities on the Knott’s midway near HangTime.
Calico Park takes center stage nightly with a variety of bands. The Calico Mine Stage rocks with a top 40’s band, and the Boardwalk DJ spins around the Charleston Circle Fountain.
Fuel your fun with seasonal food offerings that put a fresh spin on summer favorites. Build your own S’mores, snack on nacho boats, or delight on handcrafted ice cream flavors.
In addition to beats and treats, Knott’s brings a healthy dose of competitive fun with over-sized yard games, Instagram spots, and interactive experiences.
Looking to make even more summertime memories at Knott’s?
Enjoy Knott’s Soak City! With acres of water fun, the water park is perfect for the whole family. My preschooler loves to play in Gremmie Lagoon. My tweens are pushing themselves to take on even more daring slides. The best way to make it a whole day of fun is to rent a cabana. You’ll have a private oasis for retreating throughout the day, waiter service, and your own inner tubes. Maximize the fun in your own private retreat.
Summertime means upgraded attractions and elevated fun at Knott’s Berry Farm. The best way to experience every Season of Fun at Knott’s is with a season pass.
