Any Season of Fun at Knott’s offers unique experiences, dining, and fun. But there’s something special about summertime. I’m sharing my favorite summertime activities, and an amazing giveaway thanks to my friends at Knott’s so you can make sure it’s an epic at Knott’s Berry Farm.

Here are the 5 coolest things at Knott’s this summer!

1. Ghost Town Alive

Back for another year of western fun, Ghost Town Alive has returned for another season. The interactive choose your own adventure invites park guests into the ghost town city of Calico.

It’s here where the citizens of Calico take visitors through Founder’s Day celebration. The experience is perfect for school-aged children who can solve scavenger hunts, complete tasks, and make decisions that alter the outcome of the day.

Some free fun to check out in Calico:

  • Head to the barber shop for a free mustache. The barber also dabbles in science so he may just have an experiment to check out.
  • Go to the dress shop to make vintage clothing rubbings or make a bow.
  • Play a hand of cards with the sheriff & check out the jail cell
  • School’s in session with music lessons, games, and even a graduation

2. Knott’s Summer Nights

Starting in 2019 is the sunset celebration on the boardwalk. When the sun goes down, the party starts!

The Calico Mine Stage area has been transformed into an epic backyard party. Illuminated by outdoor lighting, the benches have been replaced with picnic tables and fire pits.

Entertainment

It’s not summer without a good soundtrack. Enjoy endless jams with two stages filled with live music. Rotating in is a DJ spinning hits atop the Boardwalk shop. It’s a non-stop dance party.

Families will adore the complimentary yard games like oversized Jenga and Berry Pong.

Knott’s Summer Nights Tasting Cards

Grab a Knott’s Summer Nights Tasting Card for $35. Each card provides 8 tastings. But don’t think these are sample sizes! 2 cards was more than enough for my family of 5. My husband loves the chili in a cornbread bowl. The kids and I grabbed vegan sausage in a bun, fruit bowl, and veggie skewers. Beer & wine are included as tasting options, too!

3. Soak City

The mercury is at an all-time high, and there’s nowhere better to cool off than Knott’s Soak City.

The separate ticket water park features fun for everyone. There are serious thrills! Have the floor disappear from under you before free falling on Shore Break. Take the whole family on The Wedge with room in the raft for six.

There’s a lazy river, wave pool, and preschool-friendly water playground, too.

The best way to enjoy Soak City is with a cabana rental. It’s an added expense, but so worth it. You’ll have your own oasis for unwinding, relaxing in the shade, and skipping the restaurant lines. As part of the rental, wait staff will take your order & have food delivered to the cabana.

Choose from Portside Pizza with pizza and salads or Longboard’s Grill where burgers, hot dogs, and chicken tenders are being served. Annual Passholders can use their refillable water bottles for free drinks all day.

4. Calico River Rapids

If cooling off is part of your summer plan, you won’t want to miss the new Calico River Rapids. The classic Knott’s attraction went some serious upgrades this year, and is now inviting rafters to brave the waters. You never know who is lurking around the bends, so beware!

Upgrades to the ride include a NEW storyline, line queue, animatronics, and water features.

I made Matt go on the ride with me. His reaction was hilarious! You can check out the ride in more depth here.

5. Celebrate 50+ Years of the Timber Mountain Log Ride

One of my favorite things about Knott’s is the way they’ve tied together new thrills with the nostalgia from my childhood visits.

I’m making memories with my own family with each visit, but I do love our meandering trails around the Timber Mountain via log. The beloved flume ride recently celebrated its 50th anniversary!

The Timber Mountain Log Ride drops riders 8 stories with some serious splashes and smiles.

With new seating, the ride will talk you through a mining camp. Make sure to look out for the new animatronics!
